Get Composing

Here is a simple way for students to make their own music. All they have to do is pick either an Orange box or a Yellow box fore each measure. They can either circle the boxes they want to play, or if they want to practice writing the notes themselves, they are free to use the Treble Staff provided. Students can print this out as many times as they want and try all different combinations of notes. It has been deigned so that no matter what combination of notes they choose from, it will sound like a complete song. Have fun and let me know how you like it. It can be found in the Library & Downloadable section of the website.

IMTA Year at a Glance

So here is the official schedule for the 2018-2019 School Year for my IMTA Group. For those whose are new to the studio, IMTA stands for Independent Music Teachers Association. It is a local group under the umbrella of TMTA (Texas Music Teachers Association) which is the association that is under MTNA (Music Teachers National Association). So it breaks down like this; The National Association kind of dictates broad policies for all the states to follow. Each state, has it’s own state wide association that music teachers can join. But some States like Texas are really really BIG, so we have a lot of local associations that follow the guidelines of the State. I am a member of the local group called IMTA. And this group hold events each year for music students to participate in and the picture below is a list of all the dates and fees of those events.

Now, in the past, I have paid for the Jr Affiliate Registration fee, but this year I am not doing it. The reason is, for the past few years I have enrolled all my students in the association and a small percentage have actually done any of the events. So it was a huge waist of money on my part. It’s $16.00 to enroll as a Jr. Affiliate, which is a very small amount, except when you multiply it by 90. (You do the math) Also, with the growth of the studio this year, there are just more expenses. So just let me know, before the deadline if you would like to participate in the IMTA events this year and it will be added to your October invoice. If you have any questions about the events, I will be happy to answer them. I will be sending out notices and information as we get closer to the dates.
